How to Finish Books in Half the Time [Video]

by Shawanda Greene

There are two main ways to get better at something: learn and do.

Whether you want to develop your skills as a money manager, a parent, a marketer, or whatever else you desire, your road to excellence will be paved with obtaining information and applying it.

Today, we’ll deal with the learning piece of self improvement.

My reading list is┬ánever-ending. Although I’m a fast reader, I’m not a speed reader. Finishing a book takes me quite a bit of time. Fortunately, I can retain information just as well by listening to a book.

In the video, I reveal a tip that will help you finish audiobooks faster than you could’ve ever imagined.

I didn't know you could do that! Does it make the voices sound weird or anything? I'm about to start law school in the fall and I will have a 1-hour commute each way, so audio books will become my new best friend!

You sure can. To me, the voices don't sound weird at twice the normal speed. If I kick things up to three times the normal speed, then the narrator sounds like a chipmunk. Plus, comprehension starts to suffer when they're speaking that fast. Some narrators talk faster than others. For them, I'll change the playback speed to 1.5 times the normal rate.

I love audio books, I am on the road a lot, so I can easily get through a couple of audio books in a week.
