Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to be beautiful. Giving up your weekly hair appointment won’t cause you to metamorphose into a walking version of a Nick Nolte mug shot. If you’re willing to do the work yourself, you’ll save loads of money and look fabulous doing it.
You may be resistant to the idea of firing your hairdresser or aesthetician, if only on a temporary basis. But here are two reasons the do-it-yourself route is worth consideration: 1) you save time and 2) you save money.
Acrylic nail application and salon quality highlights are a bit of a stretch for novices. However, basic beauty care requires little more than a few minutes of your time, a small investment in the right tools, and the motor skills of a small child.
Yes, a professional may be able to finish the task itself faster, but you still have to travel to and from the salon and read 2 year old magazines while you wait.
Besides saving time and money, you may be surprised to learn you actually like your workmanship better than the professionals. Hairdressers ALWAYS screw up my hair. And don’t get me started on the unsanitary conditions of many nail salons.
Although I don’t have the time, desire or qualifications to walk you through how to perform basic at home beauty care, I’ve compiled a bunch of videos of people who do.
