A Super Simple Homemade Dishwasher Detergent Recipe
by Shawanda Greene on January 17, 2012
Dishwasher detergent gets expensive, especially as your family grows and you run your dishwasher more often. The average cost of one load’s store-brand detergent is 16 cents. Get that figure down to 4 cents a load with this simple recipe:
Combine 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of Borax (often listed as 20-Mule Team Borax). Pour this mixture into the powder detergent holder in your dishwasher – don’t worry if it overflows the holder a little bit.
BONUS: This combination is fume-free and non-toxic!
