In recent weeks, I’ve eaten most meals away from home. Even though I buy a lot of grub from budget friendly Peruvian grills, the costs add up. For the most part, home cooked food is cheaper than its restaurant prepared counterpart.
This week, I’m getting my act together. And the first step is to devise a plan . . . a menu plan, if you will.
So, here goes.
Beef Burritos – Use taco seasoning mix instead of chili powder and ground cumin to flavor ground beef. Mash cooked pinto beans with a fork to make a quick version of refried beans. Wrap beef, refried beans, salsa, and cheese into a flour tortilla.
Beef Tacos – Slow cook a pot roast sprinkled with salt and pepper. Add meat to taco shell, then top with refried beans, finely shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream and salsa.
Burrito Bowl – Mix together taco meat (ground beef), yellow rice, cheese, refried beans, and sour cream.
Bacon Ramen Alfredo with a Side Salad -- Add Alfredo sauce, bacon, Parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, and sea salt (or table salt) to cooked Ramen.
Sausage Biscuits - Assemble a large batch of sausage, egg and cheese biscuits. Freeze for a quick and delicious breakfast.

I need to go buy some fresh veggies and fruit and restock my fridge. I ate a frozen lasagna for dinner and although it tasted good, I have been eating way too many frozen dinners lately.
Nice job putting together a menu plan! I can’t even remember the last time I made one.

I agree that home cooked food is definitely cheaper than going out to eat. Not only is home cooked food a better route, the food tend to last longer because you decide the portions. By the way I’m sure your menu plan will turn out great.
