Alas, my very own weekly roundup. I meant to post this on Friday, but I figured since I hadn’t done anything at my regular job all day why start working when I get home? Just kidding. *shifts eyes from side to side*
Have You Ever Had a Debt Free Christmas by Brad Chaffee @ Enemy of Debt -Brad is awesome. He’s more hardcore than me when it comes to debt hatred. This guy won’t even consider using a credit card. I couldn’t bear to part with the reward points. Like Brad, I think going into debt for Christmas gifts is just plum foolish. Now is the time to start saving for Christmas if you haven’t already. Participate in Brad’s 2009 Debt Free Christmas Challenge if you’ve had trouble remembering the holiday is December 25th of EVERY YEAR!
A Quick Chat with Man vs Debt – Traveling & Souvenir Tips by Brian Scheur @ Building Wealth Together – I haven’t done much overseas traveling (does the Bahamas count?) but when I do, I’m using the tips provided by Baker at Man vs Debt to acquire souvenirs on the cheap for my family and friends. I love a deal.
Introduction to Peer-To-Peer Lending: Signing Up to Use Lending Club by Peter @ Bible Money Matters – If you’re disgusted with the returns you’ve been getting in your “high yield” savings account, then it may be time to consider participating in a little peer-to-peer lending. I’ve been thinking about jumping in to this market. Peter does an excellent job explaining the basics in this post. Don’t forget to use the referral code.
What Does Money Mean to You by Torrey McGraw @ Men’s Playbook – When I was a kid, I wanted to be rich. Probably because I wanted to buy a bunch of junk so I could impress people. Not so much anymore. Answering the question posed by Torrey requires you to really think about why you bothered to set financial goals in the first place.
Bill Splitting 101 by Debt Ninja @ Punch Debt in the Face – I think this post is hilarious. A friend of mine just remarked how he hates eating out with people who purchase expensive menu items then insist on splitting the bill evenly. Debt Ninja’s post talks about how you can avoid getting stiffed. If you’re one of the offenders he’s referring to then all I can say is shame on you.
Hope you enjoyed My First Weekly Roundup.
Now, I’d really like a glass of wine to cap off this glorious week.
