This week was pretty uneventful, with one exception.
My Alexa ranking finally dipped below 200,000! Yaaaay!!!
I announced my decision to join the Yakezie challenge back in early March 2011. The goal was to get my Alexa ranking for You Have More Than You Think below 200,000 within 6 months. I missed the mark a little bit on the timeline. Had I not completely slacked off in May and June, I would’ve accomplish this a lot quicker. Oh well. It’s done now!
The next task is to get my Alexa ranking below 150,000. As of today, it’s 191,168.

Any money left in a Flexible Spending Account remains with your employer. That may seem unfair, but consider this: you’re not required to repay any excess funds taken out of an FSA that you didn’t put in.
For example, in November 2011 you sign up to contribute $1,000 to your 2012 FSA. You get paid semi-monthly: once on the 15th and again at the end of the month.
On January 1, 2012, you get your wisdom teeth removed, and the procedure costs $1,000. You use your FSA to pay for the entire amount even though you haven’t contributed a dime to the account for 2012. If you quit on January 2, 2012, you won’t have to pay the money back. You tell your ex-employer to suck it while skipping merrily off into the sunset.

I’ve been able to save money when I tithed and when I didn’t. It’s a personal decision driven by your faith and your willingness to sacrifice in order to give. In the last decade or so, it seems Christian leaders really place a strong emphasis on the importance of tithing. Although Jesus confirmed we should tithe, he didn’t talk about it much. I wonder why modern day pastors spend so much time on the subject. Hmm.

Congratulations on the 200K mark, we just passed it ourselves. Also a major thank you for the great comments on our blog.
I'm a political junkie as well. I find it interesting that as one of the most conservative Canadians you are bound to find, I would probably be somewhere slightly to the left or exactly aligned with Obama on the political spectrum for most issues. I've got a post coming up next week about how ridiculous it is that people keep clamouring for the federal government to magically create jobs. When the government creates jobs all they are doing is re-distributing tax dollars, and that is a long-term neutral move for the jobs picture, even if it helps a little in the short term. My solution is to lock Obama and Romney (who I think is a pretty respectable dude) in a room until multiple plans for debt reduction and a new tax code are in place and have it be binding. I know it doesn't involve a lot of checks and balances, but with the 24/7 news cycle, crazy partisanship, and the tea party nut jobs, creating a ridiculous political maelstrom, I think it would be the most effective solution. One can dream I guess!

I've also heard from quite a few Europeans that Obama is NOT liberal and far from being a socialist. I don't agree with all of his policies, but I also don't think the guy wants to destroy America.
Honestly, I don't believe our elected leaders can come to an agreement. It seems Republicans are so focused on making sure Obama only serves one term, they just can't bring themselves to do anything that's good for the country as it'll make the president look good. I didn't care for President Bush, but there's no way I disagreed with EVERYTHING he believed.
Can't wait to see how things turn out. Whatever happens:
