Sooooo, I celebrated my 30th birthday this week. And by “this week ,” I mean last week, because, well, my birthday was Thursday, August 18th. The day was pretty uneventful.
Consistent with years past, I worked – all day. As a little birthday gift to myself, I skipped the gym, arrived home earlier than 7:00 in the evening, and cooked up a delicious meal of catfish, collard greens, and yellow rice. The night was concluded with Brokeback Mountain, a movie I’ve wanted to watch for years.
All in all, my birthday wasn’t so bad. Thank God for another beautiful year of life.
Now that I’m 30 years old, I’ve been thinking more about changing my investment strategy. I’m in the process of reading The Bogleheads’ Guide to Investing in hopes of better understanding investment vehicles such as ETFs (exchange traded funds), bond funds, dividend paying stocks and REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts).
My portfolio isn’t adequately diversified (I’m almost 100% in equities), so I’d like to work on that. I’ll let you know how things go once I’ve nailed down a new strategy.
For now, I’m going to celebrate the rest of my birthday weekend with my guy. Try to enjoy the rest of yours. The weekend, that is. I’m not sure if your birthday is on or around August 18th.

Best, Sam
Thanks! After the post you wrote about Finding Love Gets Harder as We Grow Older, I'd better hold on to the one I have now. It's all downhill from here. I'm kidding. Whatever "it" is, it is just getting started.
Happy Birthday!
Thanks!

Thanks! And, you're welcome.
So far, 30 isn't bad at all. My legs look great, and I'm in the best shape of my life.
